JUNIOR/MID-LEVEL HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Job Description
Responsible for guiding and supporting the Director and staff to comply with HR Policies and Procedures, and ensuring that the firm complies with and achieves best practice across all HR areas.

Experience and Qualifications:
• Degree – Human Resources Management / Industrial Relations
• 3-5 years’ solid experience in a law firm

Key Activities:
• Building relationships and becoming a trusted HR advisor within designated departments
• Provide support and guidance to the Director on recruitment in accordance with the Firm’s recruitment strategy and policy
• Work together with the Director to actively participate in the recruitment of staff and ensure that there is a smooth on-boarding process for new joiners, interns and vacation work students to integrate them successfully into the firm
• Oversee induction to the firm for all new joiners
• Actively engage and monitor performance of the new joiners during their probation period
• Actively engage with the Director to identify key talent, retention strategies, and develop and implement succession planning
• Assist the Director to monitor productivity to ensure lawyers meet their monthly and yearly targets; assist with identifying areas of concern
• Assist in driving the performance management and promotions process and facilitate performance appraisals
• Conduct all exit interviews and provide quarterly reports on trends identified for future retention strategies

Management of Employee Relations Matters:
• Provide advice and management support of Employee Relations procedures, inclusive of poor performance, issuing of warnings, disciplinary inquiries, grievances, etc., in a manner that minimizes risk and supports the culture of the Firm and is compliant with disciplinary policies and procedures
• Work closely with the Director to provide support with regards to employee health and incapacity
• Guide the Director and assist employees if additional support is required

HR Policies and Procedures:
• Develop and maintain designated HR policies and procedures
• Keep abreast of current HR best practice and relevant legislation
• Promote awareness of and ensure adherence to all HR policies and procedures, including new policies

Implementation of a Remuneration & Benefits Structure:
• Actively engage with the Director to develop the firm’s remuneration/rewards strategy
• Actively engage in the salary review process (including awarding of bonuses) with the Director

Management of HR Budget:
• Provide input on the HR budget and motivate the HR spend

Management and Leadership:
Manage and/or contribute to assigned initiatives, projects, responsibilities:
• Participation in change management initiatives as appropriate
• Manage designated initiatives (e.g. performance management, development of remuneration and reward strategy, etc.)

Remuneration:
Negotiable and commensurate with experience.
